What is a TSV file?
TSV is like CSV but separates columns with tab characters instead of commas. Because tabs rarely appear inside data, TSV files need less quoting, and you can paste them straight into a spreadsheet. Data science and bioinformatics tools use it often. It opens in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers, LibreOffice Calc, text editors, and data tools.
What is a CSV file?
CSV stores a table as plain text, one row per line, with commas between the columns. Almost every spreadsheet, database, and analytics tool can import and export it, which makes it the default format for moving data between systems. It has no formatting, formulas, or multiple sheets.
