Convert Excel to CSV
Convert an Excel XLSX worksheet to clean CSV on your device. If the workbook has several sheets, choose the one to export; displayed cell values become rows and columns, while formulas, formatting, charts, and additional sheets are not part of a single CSV file.
Files are converted on your device and never uploaded.

Excel and CSV at a glance
What is an Excel file?
XLSX is the workbook format Microsoft Excel has used since 2007. A workbook can hold several sheets with formulas, formatting, charts, and filters, and it's the standard way spreadsheets are shared at work. It opens in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Apple Numbers, LibreOffice Calc, and WPS Office.
What is a CSV file?
CSV stores a table as plain text, one row per line, with commas between the columns. Almost every spreadsheet, database, and analytics tool can import and export it, which makes it the default format for moving data between systems. It has no formatting, formulas, or multiple sheets. It opens in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers, LibreOffice Calc, any text editor, and practically every database and programming language.
Good to know
What changes when you convert Excel to CSV
- Pick which sheet to convert. Formulas are saved as their last calculated values, and dates become ISO dates like 2026-10-17.
- Very large files, in the hundreds of megabytes, may be slow, and the preview shows only the beginning.
FAQ
Questions, answered
Can one CSV contain every sheet from an Excel workbook?
No. CSV has no concept of worksheets, so the converter asks which sheet to export. Convert the workbook again for each additional sheet you need.
Is this Excel to CSV converter free?
Yes. It's completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark, and no limit on how many files you convert. It costs Ethical Tube nothing to run, because the conversion happens on your own device rather than on a server.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs inside your browser with open-source CSV, JSON, YAML, XML, and Excel libraries, so your files never leave your device. Once the page has loaded, it even works offline.
Can I paste Excel instead of uploading a file?
Yes. Paste Excel text onto the page and it's converted the same way. Nothing you paste leaves your browser.
Can I convert several Excel files at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like. They're converted one after another, and you can download each CSV file as soon as it's ready or all of them in one ZIP file.
Does it work on iPhone, Android, Mac, and Windows?
Yes. It works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari, on computers and phones.
What can open a CSV file?
Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers, LibreOffice Calc, any text editor, and practically every database and programming language.
Is there a file size limit?
There's no upload limit because nothing is uploaded. The practical limit is your device's memory: everyday files are fine, and most computers handle documents with hundreds of pages.
