Trim a video
Ethical Tube's free video trimmer cuts the start and end off MP4, MOV, WebM, and MKV videos in your browser. Drag the handles or type exact times, preview the cut, and save it. A fast cut copies the video without re-encoding, so it keeps full quality and saves in seconds. Your video is never uploaded.

Good to know
Fast or precise?
- A fast cut copies the original video and audio, so there's no quality loss. The start snaps to the nearest keyframe before the time you picked, usually less than two seconds earlier.
- A precise cut re-encodes the clip so it starts on the exact frame. It takes longer and saves as MP4 or WebM.
- Only the main video and audio tracks are kept. Subtitles and chapters aren't carried over.
FAQ
Questions, answered
Is the video trimmer free?
Yes. It's completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark, and no limit on how many files you process. It costs Ethical Tube nothing to run, because the work happens on your own device rather than on a server.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens inside your browser, so your files never leave your device. Once the page has loaded, the tool even works offline.
Does trimming reduce quality?
Not with a fast cut, which copies the video exactly. A precise cut re-encodes the clip at high quality, so the difference is very hard to see.
Can I cut out the middle of a video?
Not yet. The trimmer keeps one continuous section. To remove a middle part, save the two halves separately.
Which formats can I trim?
MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, and MPEG-TS videos. Convert older formats like AVI or WMV to MP4 first.
