How much smaller will it get?
- Phone videos are recorded at a high bitrate, so they often shrink by half or more at the Balanced preset with little visible change.
- Lowering the resolution from 1080p to 720p roughly halves the size again. 480p is fine for phone screens and chats.
- Screen recordings and talking-head videos compress very well because little changes between frames.
- In Target size mode, the bitrate is calculated from the video's length, and the result usually lands within a few percent of the size you ask for.
