Compress images
Ethical Tube's free image compressor shrinks JPG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF images in your browser by re-encoding them at a lower quality and, if you like, a smaller size. Each image shows its size before and after, and you can compress a whole batch at once. Your images are never uploaded.

How it works
How to compress an image
Add your images
Drop JPG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF images onto the page, click to choose them, or paste one.
Pick the quality
The default of 75% keeps photos looking sharp. Set a maximum width to shrink large photos even more.
Download
Each image shows how much it saved. Download them one by one or all at once as a ZIP.
Good to know
How it works for each format
- JPG, WebP, and AVIF are re-encoded at the quality you pick. Phone photos often shrink by 60 to 80 percent.
- PNG is compressed by reducing the image to a smaller palette of colors, which often cuts screenshots and graphics by more than half with little visible change.
- You can also switch the format: WebP and AVIF are much smaller than JPG at the same quality.
- Metadata such as the camera model and GPS location is removed, so you don't share it by accident.
- If a compressed image would be bigger than the original, the original is kept.
FAQ
Questions, answered
Is the image compressor free?
Yes. It's completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark, and no limit on how many files you process. It costs Ethical Tube nothing to run, because the work happens on your own device rather than on a server.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens inside your browser, so your files never leave your device. Once the page has loaded, the tool even works offline.
Will compressing an image make it look worse?
At the default 75% quality, most people can't see a difference on a screen. Lower settings make smaller files with visible blur and blockiness, so preview before you download.
How do I compress an image to under 100 KB?
Set a maximum width of 1,200 pixels or less and lower the quality until the new size shows under 100 KB. WebP gets there at a higher quality than JPG.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. It works in Safari, Chrome, and Firefox on phones and computers, with nothing to install.
